Juan Carlos Ortiz Diaz, director of 247 Apuestas México, part of Unik Marketing, spoke about the gambling situation in Latin America and mentioned Mexico. How did 247 Apuestas México get started? What do you wish you knew when you first started in the industry?

We were looking for a consortium website to support Spanish-speaking speakers throughout the Americas, including Canada, the United States, and all Latin American countries. I wish I had started a website where more payment methods were available throughout Latin America.

What makes you different from other affiliates?

We speak Spanish in Latin America, and the whole team is based in Latin America. My whole team and I are from Mexico, we know Latin America, we know the sports that people love here, and we’re part of that culture.

What makes your traffic proposition/traffic site unique?

Our website was built in Spanish, and we market real-life Latin American movements and figures.

Grow organically through Google.

Which global markets do you prioritize and why? Do you see potential in emerging markets?

Since we are a Mexican team, we started in Mexico. Right now, we’re marketing to Spanish speakers all over the Americas and have some unique websites to cover all jurisdictions.

What is the iGaming landscape like in Latin America?

Very new and young. iGaming is getting started, but with great potential, with a large population moving online more and more frequently.

What is the status of online gambling legislation in Mexico? How does it affect affiliates?

You’ll need to establish a partnership with a local brick-and-mortar 氚旍勾霛 in order to have a legitimate online product. At this stage, the legislation does not have much impact on the agency.

Are there any specific restrictions or requirements for online gambling operators and/or agents in Mexico?

As mentioned above, to get paid in Mexican currency, you’ll need to partner with a local brick-and-mortar 氚旍勾霛, as well as have a Mexican license.

Which niches are performing best and which are the most profitable in your affiliate marketing?

Organic SEO, the process is lengthy, but it pays off in the long run.

What qualities and skills are essential for an affiliate team/business?

You need to understand your SEO; You need to work with the best operators, who see you as a partner and work with you for a long time.

How does technology play a role in your day-to-day work?

Technology occupies a huge segment, from SEO to website hosting, website security, and more.

How can an affiliate business thrive?

You need to work with a trusted partner who has the right product for the region you’re promoting, and you also have to know the local market.

What are your predictions for the future of the industry, especially in Latin America?

Everyone is talking about Latin America as the new growth region for online gambling. This market will grow, but there are many different countries among them, each with its own special requirements.

How do you choose your carriers and how do you maintain relationships with multiple operators?

We choose operators that offer local products and have local payment methods. A trustworthy partner is also crucial because there are some scammers in the market.

What was your approach in the initial stages of the new partnership?

We contract them and promote them based on their knowledge and assistance in the regions where we operate.

Have you ever attended the SiGMA Summit? SiGMA Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas – which of these four would you be willing to book on your 2021 calendar, should the pandemic allow?

Yes, I’ve already participated in SiGMA Europe; If the pandemic allows, I’d like to participate in SiGMA Americas.

Tell us a little bit about yourself – after all, business is about people, not just companies! Your hobbies, favorite books, favorite quotes, whether you also like gambling, etc.

Well, after a long day filled with work and Skype meetings, my hobby is watching my favorite football team, CBTis 232, train in session. CBTis 232 is a fourth-division professional football team with players between the ages of 14-16. We – 247apuestas Mexico – are the sponsors of this team. The dream of these kids is to play in the Mexican Primera Division one day and we have faith in them. Also, I like to ride my horse whenever the situation allows.
