Sports betting startup Betsperts has raised $6 million in funding following a Series A funding round led by HBSE Ventures and Verance Capital

Since its inception in 2019, Betsperts has continued to progress to become a major player in the burgeoning sports betting landscape. Initially, the app was designed to provide a way for bettors to connect with experts to gain insights before placing their bets. The startup has since transitioned into the fantasy football industry, acquiring analyst Matthew Berry’s fantasy sports app Fantasy Life, as well as fantasy football’s 4for4.com of content, data, and ranking tools.

The Series A funding round will help Chicago-based Betsperts become a central hub for content, social media, advice and user analytics in the sports world. Robin Reed, Chief Executive Officer, commented:

“This funding gives us the opportunity to invest heavily in the growth of our user base by investing in marketing technology, more content, and continues to allow us to look for opportunities for strategic acquisitions.”

Betsperts has one of the largest sports betting audiences in the country, and with aggressive bills that will legalize betting in several more states, the outlook is endless. In addition, once the 2021 NFL season begins, the group expects to reach a significant milestone C surpassing 1 million lifetime downloads. Rooney believes the opportunity for the company is “huge”.

“We are continuing to build on our complete vision of being the largest social platform for sports betting and fantasy sports.” He said.

Andy Roos, Partner at HBSE Ventures, said: “HBSE Ventures is excited to support the next phase of Betsperts’ growth as they aim to become a social network for sports betting and fantasy sports.

“There is no shortage of channels for sports bettors and fantasy players, but we believe that there is a great need for a solution that cuts through the noise and delivers the best content, whether such content comes from user-generated or recognized experts. Betsperts will use this content to engage consumers on its complementary platforms and capitalize heavily on the explosive growth that the industry is experiencing. ”
