Watch: Maryna Viun outlines Main & Smarts strategic approach to global iGaming consultancy

Matthew Busuttil

In an insightful interview, Maryna Viun, CEO of Main & Smart, discusses the trajectory of her Cyprus-based consultancy and its growing role in the international iGaming space. Founded in 2024, the firm offers full-scale services tailored for operators seeking entry into both regulated and offshore markets, with a focus on legal compliance, licensing, and strategic market positioning.

Supporting operators from concept to compliance

When asked about the scope of her company, Viun explains that Main & Smart operates as a turnkey consultancy for iGaming operators. We help clients from scratch, she says. We find suitable jurisdictions, open a company, advise on licensing, and connect them with PSPs and game providers.

Based in Cyprus, a growing iGaming hub, the company has already established a diverse client base. It aims to serve as a long-term strategic partner in an industry characterised by regulatory fluidity.

Viuns entry into the iGaming industry began in a support role, working as a personal business assistant in a major corporation. The experience, she notes, was formative. I saw how top-level executives made decisions, how they thought, it helped me grow, she shares. With a legal background and expertise in compliance, she eventually founded Main & Smart to address the increasing demand for legal clarity and guidance in a complex regulatory landscape.

I started with compliance and legal services, she reflects. Step by step, I grew into running a full consultancy.

Navigating a shifting regulatory landscape

With an ever-evolving set of rules and obligations, iGaming regulation remains a core focus for Viun. The market changes every year, she notes. We work with regulated jurisdictions like Romania and Estonia, help with MGA licences, and also offshore markets like Cura?ao.

She also points to the rise of Anjouan as a licensing destination, citing its high traffic potential. Main & Smart remains agile, ready to pivot as new jurisdictions, such as Nervous (presumably referring to a new or emerging licensing regime), come online.

LATAM in the spotlight

Among the most promising markets, Viun singles out Latin America for its rapid development and growing appetite for regulation. Its not an easy region, she says. There are many requirements, and not everyone can get a licence. But thats where we come in.

Viun sees LATAM countries setting regulatory benchmarks for their neighbours, potentially triggering a broader movement towards structured legal frameworks across the continent. She believes the long-term benefits for governments, from increased tax revenue to job creation, make regulation a compelling strategy.

Cyprus as an iGaming hub

Operating out of Cyprus provides both strategic and structural advantages. Viun describes the island as a concentrated ecosystem for game developers, platform providers, and service companies. Its a small island, but when you look deeper into the industry, you find many clients and partners. It is an iGaming hub.

Cyprus offers a mix of favourable business conditions, international connectivity, and a talent pool thats deeply embedded in the digital gaming sector.

Looking ahead

Main & Smart has ambitious growth plans. Viun intends to scale the company by expanding its team, building new partnerships, and entering additional markets.

I want to grow bigger, have more employees, more partners, and learn new regulations, she says. We want Main & Smart to become a name thats recognised across the industry.

As the iGaming sector continues to expand globally, consultancy services like those offered by Main & Smart are becoming increasingly essential, not only for navigating regulations but also for achieving sustained, compliant growth. With a hands-on approach and strong legal roots, Maryna Viun and her team are well-positioned to become a trusted partner for operators entering complex markets.
