During the previous BiS SiGMA South Americas 2025, in an exclusive interview with SiGMA TV, Dr. Aftab Rizvi, Chairman of The Associates Group, highlighted the growing challenges faced by operators in adapting to emerging markets like Brazil and Latin America (LATAM). With regulatory environments evolving rapidly, Dr. Rizvi emphasised the complexities of aligning both federal and provincial regulations. “Navigating these diverse regulations requires a sharp focus, as the rules in Brazil, for example, are continually changing,” he noted. As these markets mature, operators must stay ahead of the curve, not only to ensure compliance but to build resilient, secure systems that will support future growth.
Dr. Rizvi also spoke about the increasing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving innovation while raising new cyber risks. “AI is essential in enabling operational improvements, but it also amplifies the risks associated with cyber threats,” he remarked. With regulators fine-tuning their approaches, the need for continuous compliance and real-time threat monitoring is more critical than ever. “Operators must adopt a proactive stance on cybersecurity, continually evolving to meet new threats while staying compliant with both global standards and local regulations,” Dr. Rizvi added.
As the gaming and fintech industries face a rising tide of technological disruption, Dr. Rizvi stressed the importance of a “think global, act local” approach. Operators must be flexible enough to meet global standards while simultaneously adhering to the unique regulatory demands of each jurisdiction. “It’s a balancing act, ensuring that global operations are harmonised with local compliance requirements,” he explained. This approach ensures that operators can scale across multiple regions while maintaining the security and integrity of their platforms.
Dr. Rizvi also highlighted the critical role of third-party testing in fostering trust and ensuring fair play within newly regulated gaming jurisdictions. “Third-party testing not only provides a layer of assurance for regulators but also guarantees that operators are meeting the technical and security standards necessary for long-term success,” he noted. By engaging independent testing bodies, operators can mitigate risks and ensure their platforms remain secure and compliant.
