Suzy Neilan has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC). With nearly 20 years of experience in senior executive roles across both public and private sectors, Neilan is set to take on the position from 1 April.
Neilans background includes leadership in regulatory enforcement, digital transformation, and legislative change. She is currently the Executive Director of Strategy at the Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA), where she has also served as Acting CEO. Her previous roles include Executive Director of Service Delivery at the Victorian Building Authority and General Manager of Infringement Management Enforcement Services at Tenix Solutions.
VGCCC Chair Chris ONeill highlighted Neilans expertise in digital transformation and regulatory compliance in a statement. As the VGCCC enters the next phase of the programme of transformation we began three years ago, Suzys experience leading digital and technology transformation, and her deep understanding of education, enforcement, and compliance will continue to ensure the Commission is well placed to meet future challenges and ensure the integrity, safety, and fairness of the gambling industry, he said.
ONeill also praised Neilans dedication to regulatory effectiveness, stating, “Suzys commitment to achieving regulatory outcomes that benefit Victorians makes her a strong leader to support the Commission and head the agencys executive leadership team.
In response to her appointment, Neilan expressed enthusiasm for her new role. I am excited by the opportunity to contribute to the VGCCCs success and look forward to working with the dedicated and talented people at the VGCCC to make a positive difference for Victorian communities, she said.
ONeill also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing CEO Annette Kimmitt AM, who led the Commission since its establishment in 2022. Annettes holistic vision and tenacious drive led the Commissions transformation in its first years and with strategic focus, determined how we would work with the industry to ensure that our mandate to regulate in the public interest would be met, he said.
He extended his gratitude for Kimmitts service with the Commission, adding, On behalf of all at the VGCCC, I thank Annette for her exemplary service and dedication, and we wish her all the best for the future.
Neilans appointment marks a new phase for the VGCCC as it continues to strengthen its regulatory oversight of the gambling industry in Victoria.
