Ubisoft, through their Strategic Innovation Lab – Sorare and the Belgian Pro League are planning to create a unique and innovative fantasy soccer league on Ethereum blockchain.
The new blockchain experience will let players to choose a five player team each week and they will compete for points – similarly to fantasy leagues.
The winner will then receive a limited edition card from Sorare and they will be able to trade these cards on the blockchain.
The points achieved by those five selected players will be calculated on how they performing real life. Selected players will not be able to be reused during the season, therefore players will need to keep updated on the Belgian league.
Opta Sports, a specialist in football statistics, will be responsible for measuring the players performance since they will be able to provide an accurate representation of the players showing.
The Pro League CEO Pierre Fran?ois expressed his delight behind the new venture.
We were the first [soccer] league to embrace Sorares technology in 2018 and we are now extremely excited about adding Ubisoft to the party.
Sorare is a blockchain-based fantasy soccer game that allows players to trade and collect cards of their favourite football players. One card of Kylian Mbappe has already sold for 116 Ethereum.
The platform has been quite successful and has attracted a number of investors to look into Sorare. So much so that the blockchain platform raised an estimated $50million through venture firms and celebrities.
