The Rise of Skill Games: What they are and why your 바카라 needs them?

As gambling regulations tighten, a new category of game is emerging in the 바카라 space, one that doesn’t rely on luck and isn’t classed as gambling in many jurisdictions.

Speaking exclusively to SiGMA News, co-founder and CEO of Yan Shif explains why skill-based games could offer operators a valuable alternative to traditional slots, appealing to a new generation of players while avoiding regulatory barriers.

“We realised that no one was offering casual skill games to the iGaming industry,” Shif said. “It’s a huge market where players enter tournaments, pay an entry fee, and win a prize pool based on skill. No RNG, no luck, just fair competition.”

Familiar formats, different mechanics

MegaFair’s first batch of games includes solitaire, bingo, fishing, and ‘Mega Candy Cash’, a slot-style title where players make decisions during the game. Although the visuals feel familiar, the gameplay is different: the outcome isn’t determined randomly, but by the player’s choices.

“You get paylines just like you would in a regular slot game, but you choose from an option of symbols to populate that payline,” Shif explains. “The better the combination, the more points are scored, and the highest scorer wins the prize pool.”

All players compete under the same conditions. “Same layout, same symbols, same order, same rules,” he added. “There’s no advantage. It’s about how well you play.”

Why it’s not considered gambling

Because there’s no random number generator involved, skill games aren’t classified as gambling in most jurisdictions, which makes them easier to deploy and promote.

“Because you’re not playing against the house, in 85% of the world, including 45 US states, these games only need a legal opinion in order to be permitted,” said Shif.

In markets like the UK, they also remain outside the remit of gambling regulators, provided operators don’t use them to cross-sell traditional 바카라 content.

Built-in protection against abuse

As with any multiplayer format, concerns around collusion have been raised. However, Shif says the platform is designed to inherently prevent that.

“You can’t pick your opponent or play against a friend. The system matches you randomly based on your experience level,” he said. “Even if two people tried to cheat, the chances of being placed in the same tournament are statistically incredibly low. Like winning the lottery.”

Because all games follow a fixed structure, there’s no way for players to manipulate the outcome. No boosts or bonuses, no in-game purchases, and no variable conditions.

Appealing to the new generation

While these games are new to 바카라s, the audience isn’t new. Many players already enjoy both slots and casual games, and the overlap between the two is growing.

“We’ve seen that slot players and skill players often mix,” Shif said. “Younger users, especially, are more interested in games where their choices affect the result.”

Interestingly, players tend to wager more per round on a skill game than they would on a slot. “In India, for example, slot bets average five to ten cents. In our games, it’s often a dollar,” he explained. “It’s not just about the spin. It’s about playing well and winning.”

Lower cost, more flexibility

For operators, skill games also offer marketing advantages. They’re not restricted in the same way gambling products are, and the cost to acquire players is often lower.

“Skill games are easier to promote and cheaper to advertise,” said Shif. “There’s less competition and more available channels.”

Interest from operators is already growing. “A year ago, very few understood what we were doing,” he said. “Now they’re coming back asking to see the games again.”

Solving the multiplayer challenge

A key challenge for any PvP format is liquidity. Without enough players, matchmaking slows down. MegaFair addresses this by connecting players across all partner sites.

“We built a global matchmaking system,” said Shif. “If one operator doesn’t have enough players, we fill the game using the wider network.”

Are skill games here to stay?

Its early days for skill-based 바카라 games, but the interest is growing. Shif points to the success of crash games, once considered a sideshow, now a staple in markets like Brazil and India.

I think were in that early adoption phase, he said. Operators are conservative. They stick to what works. But eventually, theyll need something new to keep players engaged.

And when the next generation of 바카라 customers, raised on mobile games and accustomed to interaction, becomes the main generation, those expectations wont go away.

Theyll still play slots, Shif says. But slots wont be the whole story anymore.
