The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) has seized assets worth over 100 million baht in a crackdown on the ‘Betflixgun’ online gambling network. The operation, based on public complaints, led to raids at three locations in Greater Bangkok and the arrest of six suspects, including five site administrators and a man responsible for money withdrawals.
CCIB chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwphan announced the arrests at a press conference, stating that the gambling network had a monthly cash flow of 20 million baht ($585,385), totaling 240 million baht ($7.03 million) annually. Authorities obtained 12 arrest warrants before launching the raids on 27 February 2025.
The raids were conducted at a house on Sapphawut Road in Bang Na, Bangkok, where police seized 7.26 million baht in cash, along with computers, accessories, and gold-plated Buddha amulets. Another house in Soi Phatthanakan 38, Suan Luang, Bangkok, was also searched, where officers found 3.3 million baht in cash, 10 mobile phones, five laptops, multiple bank account books, ATM cards, and a luxury car valued at approximately 10 million baht($292,692). Moreover, authorities confiscated gold bars, gold bracelets, diamond rings, and other valuables worth over 10 million baht.
The third raid took place at an apartment in Soi Ruamjit Pattana, Samut Prakan, where officers seized 10 laptops, six mobile phones, Wi-Fi routers, and CCTV cameras.
During the operation, police arrested Kittisak, a key suspect responsible for withdrawing cash while he was making a transaction at an ATM in a shopping mall in Srinakarin, Bangkok. One suspect admitted the operation had been running for five years, frequently changing locations to evade detection.
The crackdown is part of a broader effort to combat cybercrime under Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s policy on digital crime enforcement. National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kitirat Phanphet, along with senior officials, has been leading efforts under the “Policy on Addressing Transnational Crime in the Digital Disruption Era.” Between 1 January and 20 February 2025, the CCIB has made 635 cybercrime arrests, with 298 linked to online gambling. The bureau has also proposed blocking 9,394 illegal URLs from November 2024 to January 2025.
All confiscated assets and arrested suspects have been handed over to Subdivision 4, Division 5 of the CCIB for further legal proceedings. Investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining members of the network.
In yet another incident of cybercrime enforcement, Thai police arrested 13 people linked to a gambling website with an annual turnover exceeding 1.6 billion baht. Among those implicated was Thanawan Jiracharoenwes, a 43-year-old fengshui master known as Tili, who was previously arrested for allegedly defrauding 117 victims of 130 million baht. Investigators claimed that he funnelled about 90 million baht of his victims’ money into the gambling website SBOBET.
Thailand has been intensifying efforts to combat organised crime, including illegal gambling and cyber fraud networks that often operate across borders. The government’s latest measures highlight its commitment to addressing regional security concerns.
The nation is stepping up its fight against gambling and cross-border crime to stop illegal networks near its borders. As the government discusses legalising 바카라s, there is growing pressure to weigh the economic benefits against social and security concerns.
