With an active presence in all 32 departments and more than 43,000 terminals, SUPER astro has emerged as a major player in the Colombian gaming market, not only because of its large player base, but also because part of its sales reinforces the country’s subsidised healthcare system. The Colombian Gaming Authority has stepped up its control and marketing tactics to guarantee steady growth and stakeholder confidence, according to a formal statement issued by the Ministry of Finance and .
Reliability is key to the success of the gaming sector. For this reason, Coljuegos hired the Itecoplan Audit Consortium, which is responsible for monitoring the technical, financial and legal compliance of SUPER astro’s operations. This supervision model ensures that the more than 43,000 terminals distributed throughout the country operate in accordance with the standards required by current regulations. The auditor also monitors Corredor Empresarial S.A., the concessionaire, to ensure that quality standards and contractual commitments are being adhered to. To attract new customers and establish institutional trust, this programme enhances the industry’s reputation and promotes a secure environment for investment and business growth.
The growth of SUPER astro is reflected in both its sales and its contribution to social welfare. Coljuegos projections estimate that, over the next five years, gaming will exceed $4.1 trillion in sales, which would represent an additional $781 billion for subsidised healthcare. In addition, between January and April 2024, more than $35.8 billion has already been transferred to the healthcare system, demonstrating the immediate impact of the activity. Therefore, the expansion of SUPER astro translates into concrete resources for social programmes, benefiting millions of Colombians. These results emphasise how crucial effective and open management is to maximising the sector’s social and financial advantages.
The success of SUPER astro depends mainly on its ability to attract and retain users. To achieve this, Coljuegos and the concessionaire have implemented marketing campaigns targeting both traditional Astro Sol and Astro Luna lottery players and new audiences. In addition, the entity has prioritised innovation in the user experience, ensuring that the game remains attractive and accessible in the 1,102 municipalities where it operates. In addition to increasing revenue, this strategy maintains SUPER astro’s market share at approximately 13%. According to Coljuegos, a major contributor to the industry’s ongoing growth is its emphasis on audience diversity and the ongoing enhancement of the gaming experience.
For the Colombian gaming business to remain viable over the long run, transparency and adherence to regulations are crucial. To ensure that SUPER astro’s resources are allocated efficiently to the health system, Coljuegos, the concessionaire, and the auditor work together. Ongoing supervision also reduces operational risks and increases the trust of government and corporate authorities. This strategy, built on cooperation and control, ensures that gaming’s growth is balanced and responsible, improving all ecosystem participants.
