Silvio Schembri commends SiGMAs growth and Maltas role in iGaming

I’m very thrilled to be here today,” remarked the Honourable Minister Silvio Schembri as he reflected on his journey with SiGMA from its inception. Speaking at the inauguration of SiGMAs new offices in Balzan, Malta, the Minister highlighted the significance of the iGaming industrys evolution over the past decade.

Schembri recalled the early days of discussions in 2013, when Eman first proposed the idea of a dedicated iGaming summit in Malta. I remember the very first meetings in 2013 with Eman, when he was discussing this idea to create this summit of iGaming in Malta, hence the name SiGMA,” he noted.

The Minister, who has attended every SiGMA event held in Malta, along with the inauguration of the new offices in Malta, expressed pride in witnessing its growth from concept to global success. Obviously, it gives me a sense of pride to be here, to attend the expansion of these offices here in Malta,” he stated.

Beyond local growth, Schembri praised SiGMAs global ambitions.More than that, Ive had the chance to listen to Emans plans for the futurenot only to expand internationally but also to invest heavily here in Malta,” he emphasised.

Reaffirming government support, he added, As a government, we’ll continue to give our utmost support to Eman and the SiGMA team here in Malta.

In concluding his remarks, Schembri expressed confidence in SiGMAs global potential: I’m pretty sure that the success SiGMA has achieved here in Malta will be exported internationally.

With Malta continuing to solidify its position as an iGaming hub, SiGMAs globalisation efforts stand as a testament to the industry’s resilience and ambition.
