Romania’s National Gaming Office () has revoked slot operator Betting Frenzy’s licence, a Bucharest-based operator Betting Frenzy, following an investigation into its taxes.

The investigation revealed the company’s failure to declare and pay its taxes. This included its 1% contributions to the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee and the 0.2% fee to the National Paralympic Committee. The ONJN found that Betting Frenzy had accumulated almost LEI 3.2million (€646,000) in taxes.

The investigation revealed that Betting Frenzy could not prove that it had sent any relevant declarations to the National Games Office. While Betting Frenzy had submitted paperwork to the National Betting Office, none of these were accompanied by supporting documents to show evidence of payment of taxes or intention thereof.

Following the investigation, the ONJN has revoked Betting Frenzy’s licence, meaning it can no longer offer slot games in Romania. Betting Frenzy was fined a total of LEI 50,000 (c. €10,000) and will be required to pay back the amount of taxes that it owes in full.
