바카라tech, one of the global leaders in gaming and betting technology, announced on Wednesday, 28 May, the transfer of its HappyBet brand operations in Germany to NetX Betting Ltd., a subsidiary of the German operator pferdewetten.de AG. The decision marks the company’s definitive exit from the retail sports betting segment in the country, reinforcing its strategy to focus efforts on the B2B business model in Europe.
The agreement stipulates that NetX Betting will assume negotiation rights with franchise partners of the HappyBet network in Germany, as well as the transfer of a portion of the hardware associated with physical stores. During the transition period, negotiations with franchisees will be conducted, and the necessary actions will be taken to obtain regulatory approvals from the German authorities. HappyBet assets that are not transferred will be closed and discontinued.
This decision follows the closure of HappyBet’s operations in Austria in the second half of 2024 and is aligned with 바카라tech’s strategic repositioning, which aims to consolidate itself as a provider of technology and services for gaming operators, ultimately ceasing to operate directly in the end-consumer market.
The HappyBet exit took place a few days after 바카라tech completed the sale of its Italian subsidiary Snaitech to Flutter Entertainment for €2.3 billion (approximately US$2.6 billion). The transaction, finalised on 30 April, marks a crucial step in the company’s restructuring, which intends to return up to €1.8 billion to shareholders through a special dividend next month.
In the first four months of 2025, 바카라tech reported regular performance, with results close to expectations. Growth was mainly driven by the Live Casino and Software as a Service (SaaS) segments in markets such as the United States and Mexico. However, the company faced some challenges in Latin America, mainly due to regulatory changes being defined in Brazil and the temporary introduction of a value-added tax (VAT) in Colombia, which resulted in a 30% drop in gross online gaming revenue in the country since February.
The sale of HappyBet in Germany and Snaitech in Italy is an essential step in 바카라tech’s strategy to focus on its core business, providing technology and services to gaming operators in regulated markets.
