PAGCOR set to publish updated licensees list, URLs

In its efforts to safeguard the integrity of the POGO industry, Philippines gaming regulator PAGCOR is set to publish the list of all licensed Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators, or POGOs, in the first week of October.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco made the announcement at a recent summit where he gave an update about PAGCOR’s continuing efforts to improve transparency in the POGO sector.  More specifically, Tengco gave assurances regarding the publication of the names and URLs of all licenced offshore (POGOs) and inland (PIGOs) operators. Last week, PAGCOR issued a statement on its website warning against fake online gaming sites using the PAGCOR logo without permission to mislead the public that their activities relate to licensed offshore gaming in the Philippines.

Time window for licence application is now closed

PAGCOR placed all licenced POGOs under a “probationary stance” from August 2023 and each operator had until the 17th of September to reapply for a new licence under the revised regulatory framework. Now that the time window is closed, PAGCOR will be issuing new licences by the end of the month, which will allow the regulator to publish the new list of licensees and their URLs.

Atty, Jessa Fernandez, Assistant VP for PAGCOR has previously stated that operators who have conducted activities beyond their granted license will be refused a new license and those who fail to reapply by the closing date will be recommended for licence cancellation.

PAGCOR’s commitment to integrity

In his first sit-down interview as CEO of PAGCOR, given exclusively to SiGMA News, Tengco had reiterated the regulator’s commitment to curb illegal POGOs. He said that PAGCOR has,

“strengthened collaboration with various government agencies a month after we took office last year…… There have been no reported criminal activities or kidnapping-related incidents of workers in the offshore licensing industry since.” Alejandro H Tengco

According to Tengco, maintaining and safeguarding the integrity of the POGO industry is crucial.
