The Dutch Online Gambling Association (NOGA) has announced that Acting Director Eric Konings will not extend his tenure. Konings, who took on the interim leadership role in July 2024, has played a pivotal part in shaping the association over the past seven years.

Konings initially joined NOGA as Chair in January 2018, before transitioning to Policy Advisor in 2022 and later stepping in as Acting Director following the departure of Peter-Paul de Goeij. His decision to step down marks the end of an influential chapter for NOGA, which has acknowledged his contributions with gratitude.

A pillar of NOGAs success

During his time with NOGA, Konings contributed significantly to the associations growth and strategic direction. Vice-Chair Sanna van Doorn said, We are very grateful to Eric for his efforts over the past seven years, in the capacity of chairman, policy advisor and interim director. His involvement and expertise in this challenging sector were of great value.

Eric played an important role in the establishment of NOGA and in representing the interests of its members over the years. On behalf of the board and our members, I would like to thank him and wish Eric all the best in his future projects and ambitions.

Konings leadership helped steer NOGA through a challenging and evolving regulatory landscape. His tenure as Acting Director coincided with a period of strategic reorientation for the association, which represents the interests of online gambling operators in the Netherlands.

Eric Konings reflects on his time at NOGA

Reflecting on his departure, Konings expressed pride in his achievements and gratitude for the trust placed in him by the organisation. He said, I have enjoyed fulfilling the role of interim director at NOGA during this important period of strategic reorientation. Now that this reorientation is progressing steadily, I have decided not to extend my agreement.

I am proud of what we have achieved together and will continue to work for NOGAs objectives until my last day. For now, I would like to thank the board for the trust they have placed in me.

Whats next for NOGA?

As Konings steps down, NOGA will continue its course under new management. The organisation will continue to focus on the promotion of responsible gambling, innovation, and interest representation in a competitive market.
