Philippines-based Newport World Resorts has appointed Mark Ross Rubio as the Marketing and Administrative Head of its Academy for Leisure and Tourism (ALT). Mark Ross Rubio is a veteran in administration and operations with over a decade of experience.
He has managed some of the countrys most prestigious institutions, such as the Asian Institute of Management and Dusit Hospitality Management College, where he served as Assistant Dean and Operations Manager. Rubio, who also served as a School Manager at Victory Christian International School, “will be a huge asset” for the ALT team to create “exciting new opportunities” for the future hospitality professionals, Newports World Resorts said.
Rubios career demonstrates a commitment to client satisfactiona characteristic that aligns perfectly with NWRs goal of offering world-class hospitality services. His ability to blend operational efficiency with customer-centric strategies makes him the ideal fit for this role.
NWR established ALT to address a pressing issue: the retention of skilled Filipino talent in the hospitality sector. By creating a dedicated training ground, ALT empowers local workers to excel in their careers, whether in the Philippines or abroad.
The academy offers comprehensive programmes covering a wide range of hospitality roles, including housekeeping, hotel operations, food and beverage (F&B) services, and even 바카라 dealing. ALT aims to equip its students with practical skills and certifications recognised globally.
Kevin Tan, Chairman of NWR operator Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., rather than a challenge.
Tan explained, We have this problem all the time, where we lose several hundred people every year to other jurisdictions or markets. But, because its an inevitability, I told the team that instead of trying to fight it, why not embrace it? We have created an academy, a school, where you can get a certificate. We call this the Academy for Leisure and Tourism. Weve set them up right here and trained everyone from housekeeping to hotel staff, restaurant workers, F&B people, and even the dealers. Anything that you need to have, any talent that you would need for an integrated resort, we train them there, and then we deploy them in our integrated resort.
Tan envisions ALT graduating 300 to 400 students annually, with plans to scale up in the coming years. The primary focus is to create a reliable supply of highly skilled professionals who can meet the needs of integrated resorts and other hospitality businesses.
Tan further stated, The key here is to train and then supply, train and supply continually. My hope is that for the next 12 months, well probably be able to graduate about 300 to 400 students. But I want to ramp that up because we see ourselves as a talent development centre.
Tan concluded, Were not just going to supply ourselves, but maybe even other integrated resorts or bring them to other countries. Thats the vision for this group. Its embracing what I would like to call an opportunity in this segment.
