Yesterday morning NetEnt employees were sent home and informed to await further details regarding the acquisition by Evolution Gaming.
The bid to acquire NetEnt was submitted back in June with a valuation of around €2billion, and due to the process the redundencies were to be expected, but of course seeing the current global situation and the time of year, it was still a shock to many of these employees.
Luckily, there is already interest from comapnies undergoing scoping in talent that wasn’t available before, and so with some luck these individuals will hopefully find a job in no time. Apart from this, the Maltese government has set up a helpline to assist staff whose jobs have been cut weeks before Christmas.
The Economy Ministry addressed the matter and announced that
Whilst noting the strong commitment by Evolution Gaming to its Malta operation, the Government, through the Ministry for the Economy and Industry, has immediately started discussions with the relevant entities to facilitate the smooth transition of employees who maybe at risk of being laid off as a result of this restructuring.’
Furthermore, Gaming Malta Foundation is also said to be currently attempting to contat other operators and gaming companies who might have vacancies available for these ex-NetEnt employees.
