Crown Resorts has will become the new Chair of Crown Melbourne, starting 1 May 2025. He will take over from Ian Silk, who will step down from the position on 1 July 2025 after a crucial term marked by regulatory recovery and business transformation.
Ian Silk, who joined Crown Melbourne during a period of intense scrutiny and operational challenges, has played a key role in guiding the venue through significant reforms. Under his leadership, Crown Melbourne successfully regained its licence to operate from the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC), a major achievement in the company’s ongoing recovery strategy.
To ensure a smooth transition, Silk will remain in his role until the end of June 2025. His leadership has been widely acknowledged for driving a remediation process aimed at regaining regulatory trust and strengthening corporate governance.
Martin Pakula, a former Attorney-General of Victoria and Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, brings years of public sector experience to the role. He is currently serving as Chair of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and is known for his deep understanding of the Victorian business and events landscape.
His appointment as Chair of Crown Melbourne is expected to enhance the company’s engagement with stakeholders and support its long-term growth.
