Hon, a Member of the Italian Parliament representing Rome under the Forza Italia banner, currently serves as President of the Parliamentary Committee on Suburbs. A key voice in Italys centre-right coalition, which backs Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, he is actively involved in urban security policymaking and economic revitalisation strategies.
He is also politically aligned with Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, further anchoring his influence in Italys national and European policy direction.
Speaking to SiGMA, the MP welcomed the summits arrival in the Eternal City, calling it very importantparticularly in a year marked by both the Catholic Jubilee and the recent passing of the Pope Emeritus. He noted that large-scale events like SiGMA bring international visitors and renewed attention to Rome, providing another opportunity to show our capital to people. A high-profile event such as SiGMA, he explained, act as economic multipliers by boosting tourism, generating local revenue, and reinforcing investor confidence.
Coming to Rome is an experience because you come inside history, he said, adding that Italy is already well performing in tourism and should continue leveraging strategic events such as SiGMA Europe to amplify its global image. He described SiGMA as part of a broader national effort to capitalise on Italys newfound political stability, which he identified as a very important added value in attracting foreign engagement and making local development projects more effective.
While his attendance will depend on the parliamentary agenda, he concluded with optimism: I really hope to come and visit.
