International Game Technology Plc (IGT) has announced that its global lottery division will now operate under a new name: Brightstar Lottery. The rebranding takes effect immediately and marks a key step in the company’s ongoing restructuring.

The move comes as and digital businesses to Voyager Parent, LLC, a company backed by private equity giant Apollo Global Management. Once the sale is completed, Brightstar aims to become what IGT describes as a “premier pure-play lottery” company. The transaction could close as early as 1 July 2025, according to IGT.

Apollo Global Management is also in the process of acquiring Everi Holdings Inc., a supplier of gaming technology. These parallel deals reflect a broader strategy by Apollo to strengthen its position in the global gaming and lottery industries.

Stocks to be traded under new symbol

Following the sale, Brightstar shares will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under a new ticker symbol, “BRSL”, starting around 2 July 2025. The company’s CUSIP code, used to identify securities in North America, will stay the same.

Vince Sadusky, who will lead Brightstar as chief executive, said the company’s long history provides a solid foundation for its future. “With nearly 50 years of experience, we are launching Brightstar with a strong track record of reliability, innovation, and leadership,” Sadusky stated. He added that Brightstar will focus on helping lottery partners adapt to digital trends and changing player demands.

Marco Sala, who will serve as executive chair of Brightstar’s board, echoed this view. “Brightstar will be well-positioned to drive innovation and responsibly grow the lottery business,” Sala said. He stressed the company’s role in entertaining players, supporting customers, and contributing to community causes through lottery-funded programmes.

Lottery expansion continues beyond America

Brightstar already has a significant global presence, supplying nearly 90 lottery operators across six continents. In the United States alone, it provides technology for 26 of the country’s 46 lottery jurisdictions. It also supports seven of the world’s ten largest lotteries, making it one of the most influential companies in the sector.

The rebranding reflects Brightstar’s ambition to strengthen its leadership in the global lottery market while continuing to focus on innovation and responsible growth. Industry observers are watching closely as the sale nears completion, which could signal a new era for one of the lottery sector’s most recognised players.
