Watch: Balancing AI and human input

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming industries, but human oversight remains crucial. Speaking with SiGMA TV, Martins Lielbardis, Founder of iGaming Centre, acknowledges AI’s role in idea generation and automation but highlights its limitations.

“There is one thing that AI cannot replace, which is a handshake,” he said. While AI can assist with brainstorming and data processing, Lielbardis believes the human touch will remain valuable. “The personal touch and content created by hand will actually have more value,” he added.

AI in data processing and decision-making

Businesses increasingly use AI to handle repetitive tasks such as data entry and content generation. Lielbardis explained how his company has utilised AI to build databases and automate manual processes, saving time and resources. However, he without human oversight.

“It will be a long time before AI can be left unsupervised. A human should go through and check it because there are still things that are too robotic,” he explained. AI-generated materials can lack nuance, requiring human review to ensure accuracy and relevance.

The limitations of AI in customer interaction

Chatbots and AI-driven support systems are becoming common in customer service, but Lielbardis stressed their limitations in handling complex issues. “If you’ve been waiting for support chat in your bank or any other service, you know how irritating it can be to get answers that are not personal,” he said.

AI can help filter initial inquiries, but problem-solving requires human involvement. “It can be used for the starting period to determine what the problem is, but for actual problem-solving, a human should be included,” Lielbardis added. He said automated responses cannot replace empathy and understanding.

AI and experience: The need for human expertise

While AI can quickly process vast amounts of data, human expertise remains irreplaceable. Lielbardis shares how his company still relies on experienced professionals to validate AI-generated information.

“We have a seasoned professional on our team who has been working in iGaming for more than 30 years. Without his insight and experience, you would miss certain things that AI would just collect automatically,” he explained.

Why human oversight is essential with AI?

AI offers efficiency and cost savings, but companies must balance automation with human judgment. Lielbardis advocated for a blended approach, where AI assists in streamlining processes while human professionals provide strategic insights.

“We can help ease entryways by using the contacts and experience we have in the industry,” he said, illustrating how human relationships and expertise remain essential. AI can enhance business operations, but human oversight is necessary to ensure accuracy, relevance, and a personalised approach.
