The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF), in collaboration with Genius Sports, has unveiled a brand-new fantasy league experience ahead of the 2025 Esports World Cup, set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This innovative platform allows fans to create virtual teams composed of professional esports athletes from a variety of game titles.

EWC 2025 to feature fantasy sports

Running from 7 July to 24 August, the 2025 Esports World Cup will feature elite-level competitions across major titles such as DOTA 2 and Tekken 8. Spanning eight weeks, the event will bring together top-tier esports talent from around the globe.

In a significant development, a fantasy sports platform has been launched alongside the tournament. While fantasy sports are well-established in traditional sports like football and basketball, their presence in esports has remained relatively limited. This new platform aims to deepen fan engagement by enabling users to build virtual teams based on real-world esports athletes and track their performance throughout the tournament.

Genius Sports has been selected by the EWCF to power the fantasy esports platform. Renowned for its expertise in data analytics and AI-driven sports solutions, Genius Sports provides services to sports leagues, betting operators, and media partners worldwide.

The features two main game modes: Pick ‘Ems and Head-to-Head (H2H) Fantasy. Pick ‘Ems, launched on 27 June 2025, users predict the top eight teams for each game title. The H2H Fantasy mode, going live on 7 July 2025 to coincide with the tournament’s start, allows participants to draft full rosters and compete weekly based on individual player performance. The fantasy competition will run until 24 August 2025, with supported game titles introduced progressively in line with the tournament schedule.

The $200,000 prize pool is evenly split between the two modes, with $100,000 allocated to each. Weekly cumulative scores will determine leaderboard rankings, and top performers will be eligible for cash rewards.

Fans can register at fantasy.esportsworldcup.com, where email verification is required. Once registered, users will gain access to a dashboard featuring individual tiles for each supported game.
