India-based fantasy gaming company Dream Sports, the parent of Dream11, has entered into a partnership with Microsoft to co-develop artificial intelligence-powered gaming solutions for the Indian market. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during a recent event in Mumbai, aiming to publish Microsoft’s iconic gaming titles in India and create customised gaming experiences for local users.
The collaboration will focus on building gaming experiences using Microsoft’s AI capabilities and Dream Sports’ user base of 250 million. The goal is to enhance gameplay, security, and personalisation for Indian gamers through advanced technologies, according to a local media outlet, Financial Express.
“We are eager to build innovative and future-ready experiences by leveraging Microsoft’s deep technical and AI expertise along with our base of 250 million Indian users. We look forward to working together to redefine the future of online gaming in India,” said Harsh Jain, co-founder & CEO of Dream Sports.
“We are excited to explore a collaboration with Dream Sports, leveraging their vast ecosystem of 250 million users. Together, Microsoft and Dream Sports aim to elevate the Indian gaming landscape by tailoring it to local needs and delivering transformative AI-driven experiences,” said Puneet Chandok, president of Microsoft India and South Asia.
One of the key areas of development will be strengthening fair play in online gaming. Microsoft’s AI-driven security tools are expected to support Dream Sports in detecting bots and identifying suspicious patterns of automated behaviour. These measures will help protect players and ensure a level playing field.
Dream Sports, currently valued at $8 billion, raised $840 million in funding in November 2021. The company has shown strong financial growth, with its revenue increasing by over 60 percent in FY23 to ₹6,384.8 crore ($774.52 million) from ₹4,065 crore ($492.12 million) in FY22. Net profit also rose significantly to ₹443.6 crore ($53.76 million) from ₹142.9 crore ($17.32 million).
Dream11, also operates several other brands including FanCode, DreamSetGo, Dream Game Studios, and the Dream Sports Foundation.
The Microsoft partnership aligns with Dream Sports’ broader expansion plans. The company recently acquired a 15 percent stake in Cricbuzz, a cricket media platform owned by Times Internet, for $50 million. This move aims to deepen Dream11’s brand presence and tap into Cricbuzz’s large cricket-focused audience, particularly during major tournaments.
