The launch of StyrP?Spillet.dk aligns with the Danish government’s ‘2023-to-2025 strategy’ to curb problem gambling rates. Recent developments in 2023 include the enforcement of mandatory player-ID verifications at all land-based gambling venues, restricting access to those with a national ‘K?benhavns Kommunes’ ID card. Furthermore, the expansion of Denmark’s self-exclusion scheme, ROFUS, to cover both land-based and online gambling venues demonstrates a commitment to comprehensive player protection measures.
Denmark’s commitment to reducing problem gambling extends to the introduction of customized player IDs, providing players with enhanced control over their gambling activities. The customized IDs facilitate secure withdrawals, set deposit limits, and safeguard against potential losses due to misplaced betting slips.

Fined for targeting previously self-excluded gamblers
Last week, the Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) made an official announcement regarding the issuance of two fines, totaling DKK 100,000 (13,411), to an individual who admitted to unlawfully promoting game providers without the necessary authorization to offer their services in Denmark.
The individual in question was associated with two websites explicitly directing users to gambling platforms, even if they had voluntarily excluded themselves through ROFUS (the Gambling Authority’s Register of Voluntarily Excluded 바카라ers).
Due to the unauthorized promotion of game providers in Denmark, the Gambling Authority reported the individual to the police earlier in the year. Subsequently, law enforcement determined that the domain owner had violated regulations, resulting in a fine of DKK 50,000 per websitetotaling DKK 100,000as recommended by the Gambling Authority.
These fines mark a significant development as they represent the first instance of financial penalties being imposed in a case involving the illicit distribution of gambling services. The case is notable for specifically addressing the promotion of gambling to individuals who had previously self-excluded through ROFUS.
