Flutter Entertainment has announced the forthcoming departure of Mary Turner from its Board of Directors. Turner (pictured above), who currently serves as the Corporate Director and Chair of the Workforce Engagement Committee at Flutter, will step down from her role as Non-Executive Director on 30 September 2023.
Stalwart in corporate leadership
Mary Turner’s tenure at Flutter Entertainment brought a wealth of experience to the Board and was marked by her impressive background in corporate leadership. She assumed the role of Corporate Director at Flutter in May 2020, followed by her appointment as Chair of the Workforce Engagement Committee in June 2021. Before her tenure at Flutter, Turner held the position of Corporate Director at Mackenzie Financial Corporation for over two decades, further enhancing her reputation as a seasoned professional in the higher echelons of the corporate world.
Transition in Leadership
Following Mary Turner’s departure, Nancy Cruickshank will step into the role of Chair of the Workforce Engagement Committee, effective 1 October, 2023. Cruickshank, who is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director on Flutter’s Board, will bring much experience to her new position.
Board Restructuring at Flutter
Mary Turner’s exit is not the sole change in Flutter’s Board of Directors. The company recently announced the departure of Gary McGann, who had held the role of Chairman since 2015. In his stead, John Bryant has been appointed as the new Chair of the Flutter Board and Chair of the Nomination Committee. He has taken up his new post last week.
John Bryant expressed his appreciation for Mary Turner’s significant contributions to the Board, stating, “I wish to take this opportunity to thank Mary for her exceptional contribution to the Board. We wish her well for the future.”
Nancy Cruickshank’s Multi-Faceted Roles
Nancy Cruickshank, the incoming Chair of the Workforce Engagement Committee, not only serves on Flutter’s Board but also holds prominent positions elsewhere. She currently serves as the Chair at Go City and is an Operating Partner at Exponent PE. Additionally, she is a valuable member of the Board at In The Style Group, Oodle Car Finance and Allegro.
Flutter’s H1 Highlights
This announcement follows Flutter’s H1 reports, which showcased the company’s impressive performance, hitting a four-year high with a revenue of £4.8 billion (US $6.12 billion). However, this achievement was accompanied by a notable net debt of £4.63 billion, reflecting the dynamic financial scenario that the company navigates.
Mary Turner’s departure and the subsequent appointment demonstrates Flutter Entertainment’s commitment to its governance structure and strategic leadership as the continues to evolve in the competitive corporate race.
