BetBlocker, the UK-based charity that provides free self-exclusion tools for gambling harm reduction, has officially expanded to the United States. The organisation has launched BetBlocker US, a dedicated non-profit arm registered as a 501(c) organisation in Delaware.

BetBlocker’s free gambling-blocking software

BetBlocker offers free software that allows individuals to restrict access to gambling websites and apps. Unlike many self-exclusion tools that require personal details, BetBlocker operates anonymously. Users can set exclusion periods ranging from days to years, helping them regain control over their gambling habits without external intervention.

The tool is widely used in the UK and Europe, and its expansion into North America aligns with growing concerns about problem gambling in the region. By entering the US market, BetBlocker aims to provide an accessible, non-commercial solution to those seeking help.

Support for multiple languages

To increase accessibility, BetBlocker has confirmed that its software will support English, Spanish, and soon Chinese—three of the most spoken languages in the US. The move ensures that diverse users can navigate the tool easily.

This multilingual expansion follows BetBlocker’s recent initiatives in other regions. In February 2025, the organisation introduced an Italian-language version of its software. It has also extended support to Bemba, Nyanja, and Tonga speakers in Zambia, demonstrating its commitment to global accessibility.

Partnership with the Colorado Lottery

BetBlocker US has launched with a key partnership in place. The Colorado Lottery has integrated BetBlocker into its responsible gambling resources, offering players a free and effective way to self-exclude.

This collaboration aligns with a broader trend in the US, where state lotteries and regulators are taking more proactive steps to address gambling harm. BetBlocker aims to reach more individuals who may need support by working with industry stakeholders.

Future plans and growth in North America

BetBlocker Founder and Trustee Duncan Garvie said, “By establishing the US arm of the charity, it is our hope that we can raise the profile of the service in North America and support tens of thousands more people in the coming years. Free support is essential, and I’m confident that in the coming years we will be there for hundreds of thousands of people across the North American continent that would otherwise struggle to manage their gambling.”

BetBlocker has also expanded its presence in Europe, with EveryMatrix to launch a Maltese version of the tool during European Safer Gambling Week 2024.
