Bet365 sees 70% FIFA Club World Cup bets from Brazil, Spain, UK

Bet365 has shared a positive summary of its betting figures from the recent FIFA Club World Cup, stating that it saw strong interest from fans worldwide, even though betting during the final was lower than in major European matches.

According to the sportsbook, 67.9 percent of all bets placed on the tournament came from just three countries: the United Kingdom, Spain, and Brazil. This shows where most of the excitement and fan engagement was coming from during the event.

Although the final saw a 21.6 percent drop in betting stakes compared to the UEFA Champions League Final, bet365 wasn’t too worried. The company said this was expected, as the Club World Cup is still new to the calendar and took place in a very different time zone for many fans. “Given the time zone difference and the fact it was the first time the tournament had been played, this was not a disappointing outcome,” bet365 said in its review.

Brazil leads the way

Brazilian football clubs attracted a lot of attention from bettors. In fact, five of the top ten most-bet matches involved Brazilian teams. The most money was placed on the Round of 16 match between Flamengo and Bayern Munich, while another club from Brazil, Palmeiras, appeared twice in the top ten, even though they didn’t make it past the quarter-finals.

Bet365’s Trading Expert Steve Freeth said there were a few shock results that worked in favour of the bookmaker. One example was Boca Juniors, who were expected to win easily but failed to beat Auckland. Many players had added Boca to their multi-leg Bet Builders and accumulators, so the upset meant fewer payouts for the company.

Another surprise emerged during the group stage, when Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Al Hilal — a good result for bet365, as most people had bet on a Madrid win.

But the bookmaker also took some losses. A special offer allowed bets to be shifted to a substitute player if the original one was taken out. This led to a big payout when Harry Kane was substituted, and Jamal Musiala, who came on, scored a hat-trick. Bet365 called this its biggest single-player payout of the tournament.

Eyes shift to FIFA 2026 World Cup

On the other hand, the Golden Ball award went to Cole Palmer, not favourite Vitinha, who saved bet365 from another big loss. Palmer’s strong performance in the final meant fewer winning tickets overall.

While the Club World Cup hasn’t reached the same level as the Champions League yet, bet365 said the interest was promising, especially from football-loving countries like Brazil and Spain.

Meanwhile, UK fans were more focused on the Women’s Euro 2025, where the England vs Wales match had almost double the TV viewers compared to the Club World Cup Final. Looking ahead, all eyes will now turn to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which Canada, Mexico will host, and the United States — expected to bring in even higher global interest and betting action.
