The Aussie Millions poker tournament (photo above from AussieMillions/X) is set to return in 2026 after a six-year break. According to reports, Crown Melbourne confirmed the event will run from 24 April to 10 May, 2026. Once a key fixture on the global poker calendar, the event was last held in early 2020 before being shelved due to the COVID-19 pandemic and operational changes at Crown Resorts.
Reports said that the 2026 edition will span 18 days and feature 18 tournaments, with Crown describing the revival as a key step in rebuilding Melbourne’s presence in the global poker scene. The full tournament schedule has not yet been released.
An estimated AUD14 million (€7.8 million) prize pool will be up for grabs. Buy-ins will range from AUD1,500 to AUD25,000 (€839 to €13,989). The festival is expected to attract a broad mix of amateur players and seasoned professionals.
The Main Event will return with its traditional entry fee of AUD10,600 (€5,931). The tournament was previously known for drawing hundreds of players and producing well-respected champions.
First held in 1998 with just 74 participants, the Aussie Millions quickly grew in popularity. Gus Hansen, Ari Engel, Bryn Kenney, and Toby Lewis are among the tournament’s notable past winners. Meanhwile, Phil Ivey’s dominance in high roller events, including three AUD250,000 (€139,895) Challenge wins, further enhanced the tournament’s legacy.
Known for its player-friendly structures, hospitality, and location, the Aussie Millions became a must-play event for international poker professionals for years. Its 2026 return is expected to bring back many of the players who once made Melbourne a regular stop on their tournament calendar.
This development follows a leadership change in March, when Crown Resorts named MGM executive Ed Domingo as the new Chief Executive Officer of Crown Melbourne, replacing Mike Volkert, who is stepping down after serving in the role for two and a half years.
Volkert left Crown to pursue another opportunity. His departure comes after a challenging period for the integrated resort, including efforts to regain its gaming licence. Crown Melbourne Chairman Ian Silk expressed appreciation for Volkert’s leadership and commitment during his tenure. Crown Resorts CEO David Tsai also acknowledged Volkert’s contributions, including his role in helping the 바카라 meet regulatory requirements.
Domingo brings over two decades of experience in the 바카라 and hospitality industry. He was most recently President and Chief Operating Officer of Empire City Casino in New York, part of MGM Resorts. Before that, he held key roles at Bellagio Resort and Casino, Caesars Entertainment, and Rush Street Gaming.
Crown Melbourne is one of Australia’s largest integrated resorts, and Domingo’s appointment comes as the group continues efforts to rebuild its reputation and operations. His industry background is expected to support the company’s ongoing transformation and compliance with regulatory expectations.
