The Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) has issued its first gambling offence against anyone who infringes the copyright of an advertisement.

BetMGM and PointsBet have been fined $78,000 by the Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) for inducing advertising and advertising.

The fine was imposed on the company for allegedly violating the Registrar’s Internet Gaming Standards for advertising and solicitation.

AGCO revealed details of these breaches, claiming that BetMGM Canada advertised a “$250,000 launch party” and included a sweepstakes offering a $100,000 氚旍勾霛 bonus to the winner.

The so-called Bellagio promotion, which aired with the promise of a $10 氚旍勾霛 bonus in exchange for a $25 bet, was first tweeted on April 4 and repeated on April 6, 7 and 8. On April 8, they also promoted a campaign called “Jimi Hendrix Free Spin Friday” on Twitter for a chance to win 100 free spins.

“On behalf of PointsBet Canada, I personally apologize for the misinterpretation of the standards set by the Ontario Alcohol and Betting Commission (AGCO) that led to this decision,” Scott Vanderwel, CEO of PointsBet Canada, said in a statement.

Ontario is one of the few places in the world where the promotion of bonuses and other forms of gambling is prohibited.
