Juan Carlos Ortiz Diaz, director of 247 Apuestas M¨¦xico and Unik Marketing, talks about the landscape of dea zan games in Latin America, specifically in Mexico. How did 247 Apuestas M¨¦xico take off? What do you wish you had known when you started?

We were looking for a set of affiliate sites to support Spanish speakers throughout the Americas, including Canada, the United States, and all Latin American countries. As I get started, I’d like to know more sites with payment methods that work throughout Latin America.

What sets you apart from other affiliates?

We speak Spanish, which is the language of Latin America, and our entire team is located in Latin America. My entire team and I are from Mexico. We understand how the continent works, the sports that people here like and we are part of the culture.

Why do you think your traffic/websites are unique?

Our pages are made in Spanish and we market sports and real-life Latin American personalities.

What is the most difficult thing you are facing now?

Grow organically with Google.

Which markets do you have as a priority and why? Do you see potential in emerging markets?

Since our team is Mexican, we started from Mexico. We now target Spanish speakers across the Americas with a series of unique pages to cover all jurisdictions.

What is the iGaming landscape like in Latin America?

He is very new and young. It’s just starting now, but it has huge potential with large populations doing more and more things online.

What is the situation of Mexican legislation related to online gambling? How does it affect affiliates?

It is necessary to have a partnership with a local land-based ë°”ì¹´ë¼ in order to have a legal online offer. To date, the legislation still does not have much impact on affiliates.

Do operators and/or affiliates in Mexico have any specific limitations or requirements on online gambling?

As in the previous case, in order to pay and work with the Mexican currency it is necessary to partner with a local land-based ë°”ì¹´ë¼ and have a Mexican license.

Which niches work best for you for affiliate marketing and which are the most profitable?

Organic SEO is a long road, but in the long run it is worth it.

What qualities and skills are essential in an affiliate team/business?

You need to know SEO, you need to partner with the best operators who treat you like a partner and work with you for the long term.

What role does technology play in your day-to-day life?

Technology is a huge part, from SEO to site storage, site security, etc.

What does it take for an affiliate business to thrive?

You have to work with trusted partners who have a product suitable for the jurisdictions you are promoting and you have to have local knowledge.

Do you have any predictions about the future of the sector, especially in Latin America?

Everyone is talking about Latin America as the new growth region for online betting; It will grow, but there are a number of different countries, each with its own particular requirements.

How do you choose the operators and how do you manage the relationships with all of them?

We choose operators that offer a local product and that have local payment methods. Trusted partners are also vital because there are a lot of weird people on the loose.

What approach do you use in the early stages of a new partnership?

We recruit and promote them based on their knowledge and support in each jurisdiction in which we operate.

Have you ever been to SiGMA Europe, Africa, Asia or America? Which of these conferences would you like to attend in 2021, COVID-19 permitting?

Yes, I have been to SiGMA Europe and if COVID-19 allows, I would also like to attend SiGMA Americas.

Tell us a little about yourself, the person behind the company. Your hobbies, your favorite book, your favorite phrase, if you like Gaming, etc.

Well, after a long day of work and Skype meetings, my hobby is watching practice with my favorite soccer team, CBTis 232. CBTis 232 is a professional football team in the fourth division with players between the ages of 14 and 16. We, 247 Apuestas M¨¦xico, are the sponsors of this team. The dream of these boys is to play one day in the Mexican first division and we believe in them. I also like to ride horses whenever I can.
