Carlo Marafioti, co-founder of Infadawork O?, joins the interviews of the Affiliate Grand Slam affiliate club

Carlo Marafioti talks about his portfolio, including MachineSlotOnline.it and slots-777.com, about SEO and how to secure a high ranking position. Her story below.

How did the affiliate business take off?

My partner and I were already working in the sector. I was focused on operations and Michael was dedicated to networking and affiliation. We connected through a mutual friend and we thought it was a good idea to start a business adventure together. We understood the opportunities that arose from the offer of licensed 바카ë¼s in Italy, starting in July 2011, so we launched MachineSlotOnline.it. That was the right time to launch our first site, so far it’s been hell of a journey, 11 years counting and 4 sites in our portfolio. It’s also worth noting that we launched our international site in 2014, slots-777.com.

What sets you apart from other affiliates? What makes your website unique?

A lot has changed since the first website, it just has to be said that mobile traffic didn’t exist at that time. Most affiliates started small, many on a budget, learning to be developers and content creators at the same time. You didn’t need to have significant overhead to start getting valuable leads. However, only those that adapted and embraced change in the last decade have thrived. Many fellow affiliates have been left with potential customers when things have changed. You have to be resilient to overcome negative streaks, because they also occur in successful companies.

In 2022, business has to go hand in hand with operations and technology. Nowadays the user experience has changed, so the interface has to keep up with it. Our industry resembles mobile gaming and is evolving towards social gaming. Probably, our best characteristics resume with adaptation, research, comprehension, and word adjustment.

How important do you think SEO is?

There was a time when SEO was important, but not as crucial as it is today. We weren’t facing fierce competition from the same 바카ë¼s we partnered with. We had many advantages to get qualified traffic. In the last 5 years, SEO has become an exponential challenge, the options are limited. Therefore, it is an area that requires daily attention to achieve the results that our partners expect from us. Definitely, I would say it’s extremely important, and without a proper SEO team, an affiliate business doesn’t have a foundation to lean on.

How do you secure high rankings in search engines?

Focusing on quality in all aspects is what really matters. I would rather say that it is a puzzle, in which each piece has to fit in the right place. Content is key, as it always has been. What has really changed is how interaction influences rankings, it’s literally the users who define success or failure. There is no fixed formula, it is crucial to find out what they really want and shape the website accordingly.

What helps you to have a better performance?

Maintain a consistent approach based on good analysis, well-thought-out strategies, and top-notch trading. Evaluate feedback and start over. It may seem obvious, but I assure you that it’s difficult to align priorities and what to focus on next. It’s such a fast-changing business that if you get distracted for a few months, you can easily lose ground.

A key factor is how you view your users. Providing them with valuable content, offering them a service, and letting them choose how they want to interact with your site without interference. Avoiding thinking of them as dairy cows is a big step, in the end it should be up to you if and when you want to play for real money. Insistent pop-ups will only make them leave and not return to the web.

What added value do you provide?

We have always been looking for long-term partners, who generate a mutual benefit that can last for years. That cannot be done only with predatory campaigns or the desire to make a quick buck. Understanding the right offer for users, based on conversion and retention rates, is what makes your value increase over time. For our part, we strive to send the highest quality customers to the best ë°”ì¹´ë¼ providers, where they can enjoy the best range of slots and get the best promotions according to their profile.

Which markets do you focus on and do you see potential in an emerging market?

We have 3 websites in the Italian market and an international website in the United States, the United Kingdom, California, Australia and New Zealand. For now, the United States is an emerging market, as so far only 4 states have legalized online gambling. At some point a few years ago, we expected this to expand at the federal level much faster. Canada is interesting and is about to legalize, but again, it could follow the same model as the United States. So far, only Ontario appears to be moving forward with concrete measures.

As for Latin America, we believe that Brazil can be an interesting opportunity. We have already prepared the ground in S?o Paulo and are waiting for the final legal details from the Brazilian government before we go live. Mexico, Colombia, and Chile have been on the list of emerging markets for the past 10 years, but for one reason or another they don’t seem to have picked up enough pace to justify investments from an affiliation standpoint.

How important is responsible gambling?

바카ë¼ers should understand that playing for real money is fun and exciting, but it requires some caution so that it remains just entertainment and does not cause financial problems. We’ve created content on how to set your own pace, and there’s no such “one size fits all” game. Therefore, managing the player’s bankroll is something that affiliates must endorse by default, along with maintaining an objective stance and not incentivizing reckless betting. It is true that much progress has been made in this specific area, also with the help of legal regulation on the “wrong way” to promote gambling. We also recognize how ë°”ì¹´ë¼ partners are strict about compliance and verification of affiliate content, which increases the safety of the industry as a whole.

Do you think the affiliate industry will continue to grow?

In my opinion, we have already peaked and the market is entering a phase where we will see an upward trend in mergers and acquisitions. I don’t see much room for new players in the market, as I expect a consolidation like the one that has occurred in the last 20 years in the automotive sector. Over time, the investment needs to remain competitive increase, and large media groups with large capital expenditures will always have the upper hand.

I don’t want to sound pessimistic, but I think difficult times lie ahead. We cannot ignore the fact that the economic outlook is rapidly worsening around the world, and that we are experiencing a rapid increase in costs for the average household that has not happened in the last 40 years. In the entertainment industry, we’ve recently seen Netflix lose subscriptions for the first time in 10 years, and I think the reduction in disposable income will inevitably affect the gaming industry. Whether this will be a temporary shock or something more persistent over time also depends on how the Ukrainian conflict evolves. While it may not be what I expect, I do believe that Pandemic and War can reshape the priorities and future of this industry.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a very curious person; I like to read a lot and learn a little bit of everything. I can be very assertive at times and I’m not afraid of constructive criticism. I have always been attracted to the financial services sector, in 2007 I obtained the title of security officer in the UK. However, I have never worked in the sector, as life chose a different path for my career. I like to exercise daily, maintaining a workout routine boosts mental and physical health. “Fortune favors the bold” is my favorite phrase.
