Heiko Wulf, CEO of German Poker Days, talks about their poker events and live streams, ë°”ì¹´ë¼ events, and poker community. Below, we tell you their story.

How did you get into the poker affiliate sector?

After creating a live poker community, several operators contacted us and our journey began.

Where did you start the affiliate business from and how? How have you made it grow?

We build a poker community in Germany through live events and social media, we scale a lot with social ads.

What helps you to have a better performance? What are the main challenges?

Facebook and Instagram work great, we’re also testing TikTok and SnapChat. The main challenge is the restrictions and rules of the ads.

What differentiates you from other affiliates and what makes you unique?

We meet many of our customers in person, from live poker tournaments, calls, or chats/comments. So we get a lot of feedback about the special events we host online.

Tell us a little more about your business model and culture.

We bring players online and promote and add poker travel packages. This is a great project for us, as we are our own sponsor.

How do you decide which brands you want to advertise? What do you take into account?

We only work with brands that we promote Poker, Casino, and Sports is a platform/brand.

How do you ensure that players receive a good poker experience?

We organize training sessions by ourselves, we have private online poker tournaments and we also see the results of the players in live poker events.

How important are marketing strategies in business?

Important, because as an affiliate, you need a lot of skills and experiences.

Tell us a little more about your live poker events and your weekly streams.

Normally, we organize more than 300 events a year in Germany and Austria. Most are for low-budget players, with a buy-in of only €20-30, with up to 1000 players. We are licensed for the German Poker Championship (Deutsche Poker Meisterschaft), so players not only win prizes, but also trophies and titles.

In our stream, we played events with guests from the community and some stars of the poker business; lots of entertainment, some raffles, bounty hunter prizes, etc.

You also host mobile and virtual ë°”ì¹´ë¼ events. Can you tell us more about them?

Sure, that’s for the B2B market, the brand is “German Casino Events”. Many team events, Christmas parties, fairs, etc. We are a full-service event agency and operate in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Companies reserve the ë°”ì¹´ë¼ program with roulette tables, black jack, poker, chuck-a-luck, slot machines, lights and decoration. Our team of dealers builds a 100% Casino atmosphere with an unforgettable night of entertainment.

Which markets do you see as a priority and why? Do you see potential in any emerging market?

We have our sights set on the markets of Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland because of our language skills. The content is best if written by a native speaker.

What approach do you have in the initial stages of a new agreement?

We talk about realistic goals and how to achieve them. Some brands only need FTDs, others sharks, etc.

How can poker affiliates have a more unique approach?

Think long-term within the community. Poker players stay at a poker site and generate rake if they feel good. So the best customers are amateur players who deposit a small amount monthly, but play for years. They keep the platform active and never withdraw money.

Have you ever been to SiGMA? SiGMA Europe, Asia or the Americas, which exhibition are you most likely to go to in 2022?

Yes, I will try to go to SiGMA Europe in the following years.

Tell us a little about yourself, after all, business is done with people and not with companies. Your hobbies, your favorite book, favorite phrase, if you like iGaming, etc.

I am very active in sports betting due to our activities in the Bundesliga in Germany. I watch a lot of live football matches, connect there with partners and invite friends and business contacts to our VIP boxes. When we are on our poker trips I love to play craps, an amazing game in Las Vegas, or at Rozvadov’s King’s Casino.
