H.E. Mr John Busuttil, is a career diplomat with more than 30 years of international experience. He presented his credentials as Ambassador of Malta to the People��s Republic of China on 24th April 2023. He is also non-resident Ambassador of Malta to the Kingdom of Cambodia, to the Republic of Mongolia, to the Republic of the Philippines and to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Mr Busuttil joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995 as Second Secretary. He served a number of years abroad including at the Maltese Embassy to Germany (1995-1999); at the Maltese Permanent Representation in Geneva (2002-2006); and at the Maltese Permanent Representation in Brussels (2006-2011). In 2011 he joined the European External Action Service and was posted to the EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York. In 2015 he returned to Brussels to a position within EEAS Headquarters. In 2019 he rejoined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Valletta where he was appointed Director Global Issues. He was part of the Team managing the election to the United Nations Security Council for 2023-2024. Mr Busuttil is married to Jacqueline Busuttil Xuereb.
